Costco, a well-known self-service store due to its Price Club system, might increase the prices of its memberships; here’s what we know about it.

The international chain of U.S. origin, Costco, was established in 1976 and has positioned itself as one of the most renowned self-service stores worldwide in recent years.

Costco operates through a Price Club format, which is exclusive to members who purchase their annual membership.

Following Costco’s popularity, a store that even sparked chaos due to product resale, the international chain is now considering a drastic measure: raising membership prices.

Warning of price hikes in Costco memberships

Although Costco has not issued an official statement on this matter, the TikTok account ‘Clientes Costco México’ stated that membership prices will increase.

This past Saturday, August 17, María Clara, administrator of the ‘Clientes Costco México’ account, revealed that Costco membership fees will rise.

It would be an increase after 7 years of maintaining static costs, with the new prices being as follows:

Gold and Business membership (primary and complementary): 600 pesosAdditional memberships: 300 pesosExecutive memberships (primary and complementary): 1,200 pesos

However, for executive memberships, the 2% reward limit will be increased from 7,500 pesos to 10,000 pesos.

When will Costco membership fees increase?

According to the information revealed, the new Costco membership fees will take effect on September 2, 2024.

Nevertheless, Costco has not confirmed the fee increase, while their website still shows the current prices unchanged.
